The University of Sopron recently concluded a productive international outreach tour across Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Between April 1-4, international coordinators Erzsébet Szaniszló and Dóra Kulcsár represented the institution at the International Education Fair (IEF) 2026, organised by the Bolashaq Fund, engaging with a high volume of prospective students interested in European higher education.
The mission focused on building direct connections with students in Astana, Almaty, and Tashkent. Throughout the tour, the coordinators maintained an active presence at the university’s exhibition booth, providing personalized guidance to visitors. Beyond these consultations, the coordinators delivered key presentations at each site, offering detailed insights into the university's academic portfolio, campus life, and the unique advantages of studying in Sopron.
A significant factor in the success of the mission was the enthusiastic participation of the University of Sopron’s alumni. Local graduates joined the coordinators at the fairs, serving as vital ambassadors for the institution. These former students contributed to the recruitment efforts by assisting with translation and navigating cultural nuances and providing authentic accounts of their time at the University of Sopron, from the quality of education to the integration into student life.
The presence of alumni at the booth proved invaluable, as their success stories resonated strongly with prospective applicants and their families. By combining formal presentations with the authentic testimonials of former students, the University of Sopron successfully increased its visibility in the Central Asian region.
This mission has laid a strong foundation for future enrollment from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, further diversifying the university’s international student body. The University of Sopron extends its gratitude to the dedicated alumni whose collaboration made this trip a resounding success.
