The University of Sopron is an Active Participant in the Forest Europe Expert Meeting in Malmö

During the Malmö negotiations, participants are discussing:

• Strengthening sustainable forest management.

• The economic, social, and environmental roles of European forests.

• The future operation and financing of the Forest Europe cooperation.

• Reviewing the implementation of the organization's current work program.

• Current issues such as the development of green forestry jobs and the sector's preparedness for geopolitical challenges.

The team from the University of Sopron is once again playing a vital role in the communication and visual documentation of the meeting. Staff from the university's media studio are responsible for creating all motion and still-image content:

• Video recordings and interviews.

• Photography and other communication materials.

• Short video statements where participants share experiences on practical sustainable forest management and how their countries utilize the State of Europe’s Forests report.

This is not the first time University of Sopron staff have handled communication for Forest Europe events; the institution is an active partner in European professional forestry cooperation. As Hungary’s only higher education institution for forestry, the University of Sopron collaborates with numerous European professional organizations (e.g., Silva Network, IUFRO, European Forest Institute) and regularly participates in international professional dialogues.

The Malmö expert meeting is a crucial step in European forestry cooperation, as the policy proposals and professional positions formulated here form the basis for subsequent ministerial-level decisions. The event also provides an opportunity for European professionals to jointly seek answers to current challenges affecting forests and further strengthen the role of sustainable forest management in Europe.
