As graduation approaches, many international students face important questions about their future. Should they continue with an MSc or PhD programme, start working, return home, or move to yet another country? Each option brings new opportunities, challenges, and adjustments.
To support students during this important transition, the International Office's Student Help programme organized a small-group workshop entitled “Graduating! What’s Next?”, facilitated by the University's psychologist. Through guided self-reflection and self-awareness exercises, participants explored how they have changed during their time at the University of Sopron, clarified their goals, and reflected on the experiences and values they wish to carry into the next chapter of their lives.
For many students, studying abroad has been a transformative journey. They have adapted to a new environment, embraced aspects of the local culture, and grown both personally and professionally. Whether they are returning home or preparing for another international experience, understanding these changes can help them make more confident decisions about their future.
At the University of Sopron, supporting students' mental well-being is an important priority. From their first days on campus until graduation, we strive to provide international students with the guidance and support they need to thrive academically, personally, and emotionally. This workshop was another example of our commitment to helping students navigate not only their studies, but also the significant life transitions that accompany them.
