A meeting of EU diplomats dealing with financial regulation was held in Budapest on September 9-10 within the framework of the consecutive Hungarian presidency of the Council of the EU.

The main topics covered were financial awareness, the Capital Market Union, and the priorities of the EU legislative cycle. In the framework of the conference, the Alexandre Lámfalussy Faculty of Economics of the University of Sopron had the opportunity to present the results achieved so far in the framework of financial awareness, and to describe the main areas of the mentor program that has been successfully operating in recent years. On behalf of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Zsuzsanna Széles gave a presentation on September 10, 2024 at the Budapest Congress Center for professional diplomats at the "Informal Financial Services Attaché Meeting" event.

Strengthening financial awareness is crucial, with the spread of digital financial services, not only the opportunities, but also the number of financial abuses are increasing. The purpose of the Financial Awareness Development Strategy is to expand the population's financial knowledge, reduce vulnerability and create a more aware society.
