Education in economics has a decades-long history at the University of Sopron, where we are building the future. The world is changing, and we need to adapt to these changes. Our main goal is to provide our students with marketable knowledge that will allow  them to adapt flexibly to the needs of the labour market in the future. Professional knowledge, foreign language proficiency, and a digital environment orientation are essential. We offer courses at several levels: bachelor’s (BA, BSc) master’s (MA, MSc), and doctorate (PhD).

A potential economist considers options when selecting a study programme and sees cost recovery as an investment. My colleagues and I are working to ensure that degrees obtained in the Faculty of Economics open the “gates” of the labour market for all  ur graduates. Graduates can create value through the knowledge they have gained – value for their professional careers, jobs and businesses.

The educational and scientific system of the Alexandre Lámfalussy Faculty of Economics maintains a high professional standard and a student-oriented focus. Our Economists Club and the Tourism Club also “bring home” the best cultivators in the field. In  recent years, our students and lecturers have won many national awards and recognitions. Our unique environment and student-centred education,  here human relationships also convey value, makes all of this possible. In addition to our excellent professional training, we value foreign language skills as another key to success, which is why we offer our students free language learning opportunities through four optional semesters. Our corporate and institutional relationships provide practical, flexible training and hands-on  opportunities.

We have a wide range of international connections, which we are constantly expanding to meet your needs. As part of study mobility,  we offer scholarship semesters at more than 30 European universities through ERASMUS + and CEEPUS. Through a cooperation  agreementwith the German FOM University of Applied Sciences and the Finnish University of Applied Sciences Seinäjoki, we have  established an internationally accepted joint degree. Our student-friendly learning plan ensures that students enjoy leisure time during  their studies and internships.

The university is a knowledge community of creative people, where we offer our students a partnership that respects each other’s values  and knowledge.

Let’s build the future together!

Sopron has offered kindergarten teacher training for over 100 years. Our mission is characterised by respect for human life, human  communities, and sustainable societies for future generations. This mission provides the basis and traditions for education and  research work. This solid basis of values provides our faculty with the ability to respond to the challenges of a changing world while  imultaneously preserving and transmitting these values.

Theories concerning the early years of human life have undergone  paradigmatic changes in recent decades. The latest national and international research trends stress childhood as a key factor in personal and societal development. Educating children is crucial for the progress of any nation since only happy, well-balanced, and talented children can build a prosperous and sustainable society.

Our faculty has a solid reputation and is highly respected in the domestic and international labour market. Degrees issued by the Benedek Elek Faculty of Pedagogy serve as excellent letters of recommendation. The faculty endeavours to provide an educational portfolio that is practice-oriented, substantial and adequate for the expectations of current and future professions. We offer mentored internships in Hungary and throughout Europe through which our students acquire the skills and competencies needed in their future professions.

The faculty is the best known and most respected early childhood education institution in Hungary. We maintain our competitiveness by strengthening and extending the ability to enter international circulation in alignment with the concept of higher education’s development. Our faculty has established partnerships with 55 European and non-European institutions. Lecturers and students can participate in mobility and exchange programmes. Guest lecturers, researchers and students from all over the world are also most welcome to visit the Benedek Elek Faculty of Pedagogy.

uni-sopron-image-emk-01.jpgThroughout its history, the Faculty of Forestry has consciously and successfully combined the preservation of tradition with continuous adaptation to the needs and expectations of the era. By working on this basis, it has gained international recognition. It has the  capacity needed for research that reaches the international standard, with the expected human and material resources.

The faculty conducts a wide range of domestic and international research cooperation that welcomes the challenges and needs of the profession and the partner companies.

The faculty consistently professes and applies the principle that high-quality research is a prerequisite for quality education, in which students and PhD students play important roles. The Roth Gyula Doctoral School of Forestry and Wildlife Management Sciences is the custodian of higher-level knowledge. Its international and nationally renowned scientific workshops employ many young lecturers, researchers, PhD students and scientific students, ensuring the supply of a scientific workforce. The Faculty of Forestry is actively involved in the development of the country’s forestry policy. It performs successful tender activities and extensive science service provider activities.

The faculty’s existing and constantly evolving intellectual, material, financial resources and the commitment of its staff guarantee that the Faculty of Forestry will remain on a sustainable development path in the future. In recent years, our long-established institution has developed a new infrastructure that meets twenty-first-century requirements: new lecture halls, dormitories, a student hotel, research bases and modern laboratories. Lake Neusiedl Water Park, several sports clubs, an indoor swimming pool, and the horse farm in Nagycenk are at are available to students for leisure time activities. In addition, the ancient student city of Sopron’s cultural values and programmes, its wonderful surroundings and a range of sights and programmes in Austria that can be reached in less than half an hour make student life in Sopron attractive and memorable.

Scholarships abroad open up many opportunities for students, mainly in Europe and beyond, e.g. North America. In addition to learning about other professional, educational and cultural backgrounds, students can acquire or deepen their foreign language skills and get to know fellow students with similar interests from other countries.

The Faculty adapts flexibly to the changes of the present, providing practice-oriented training and marketable, applicable knowledge in all fields of science and specialization. Young people who graduate here can usually find a job within three to six months.

Faculty of Wood Engineering and Creative Industries

uni-sopron-fmk-image-photo-01.jpgThe faculty has come a long way from its roots in Selmecbánya in 1735. Building on our long experience, the Faculty of Wood Engineering and Creative Industries is heading to the high tech world in the fields of our competencies and has become one of the leading university centres in the Central European Region.

The faculty focuses on three main areas of training: technical, arts, and IT education. Our high-quality work is well-demonstrated by the fact that our art students and faculty have won several national and international awards, and year after year, our wood engineering students consistently win podium places and special awards at a national competition.

Our faculty traditionally has strong industry connections and international connections. The faculty maintains close relations with 35 foreign universities, which provides a professional-scientific community and offers opportunities for our students to participate in courses abroad. The Doctoral School of Wood Science and Technology is well-connected to our innovation activities and international relations.

We work hard to make our students as successful after graduation. We consider creative thinking to be of particular importance, which we promote by organizing laboratories in which students absorb communicated knowledge and
apply it creatively by solving tasks individually or in small groups. We also consider it important that the three main fields of study of the faculty do not simply coexist, but that the worlds of technology, art and information technology and thinking meet in a special way in students’ lives. A nationally unique opportunity in the field of our educational and research services is that the specializations build on each other and can be brought into close synergy within one faculty. We shape our courses so that our students can find the skills they need, gain experience working with students in other fields, and thus prepare themselves for future work tasks that require a wide range of thinking.

We have renewed all of our training courses in recent years. In addition to high-quality infrastructure, the teaching staff is highly valued nationwide, with many qualified and internationally recognized teachers. The Faculty-related laboratories, workshops, and revamped Woodworking Institute offer the widest range of research and hands-on training in Central Europe with excellent hightech equipment.
